"Life has its own hidden forces which you can only discover by living." - Soren Kierkegaard
The Rufous-gorgeted flycatcher breeds in the Himalayas in India, Nepal, Bhutan and winters in Bangladesh, Thailand and Vietnam.
The Rufous-gorgeted flycatcher gets its name from the reddish brown (rufous) band that adorns its throat. "Gorgeted" comes from the French word "gorge" meaning throat. Traditionally, a Gorget was a band of linen that women in the medieval period wore around their neck. The term was later used to describe a piece of armour - a steel or leather collar worn around the neck that extended down to cover the upper chest.
