The ashy-crowned sparrow lark is a sparrow sized lark found in the arid scrub and grasslands of the Indian Sub-continent. They forage on the ground for seeds and insects. They are often heard singing sweet notes. Their dull earthy colouration acts as a perfect camouflage. When alarmed they tend to crouch and blend in with the surrounding and fly only when approached.
