Although all kingfishers have a big head and pointed long and dagger shaped bill for splashless entry into the water while diving for fish, the white-throated kingfisher can be seen in a range of habitats that are well away from a water body. They have adapted themselves to hunting for a variety of land food including insects, worms, lizards, crabs etc apart from aquatic food.
